T Minus 3 Months (or thereabouts)

Lots of appointments! Feel like every few days I'm seeing a doctor, dentist or eye specialist. Everything still looking great and definitely feeling more pregnant now that the second trimester is well underway and I have a nice bump to prove it. Our Mountain Buggy finally arrived on Jan 26th - right out of the box from New Zealand - just gorgeous in Chocolate Brown with white polkadots. Definitely worth all the hundreds of dollars we paid for it. Had a fetal echogram on Jan 29th with a pediatric cardiologist to make sure the Bean's heart was working properly and there were no holes in the chambers etc. Was neat to see his valves pumping away on the ultrasound. Definitely feeling an increase in activity - lots more kicking & some rolling type movements too. Have noticed an increase in indigestion and heartburn accompanied by more weight gain - starting to waddle as opposed to walking normally. Ian is officially calling me a penguin.

T Minus 4 Months (or thereabouts)

Got a call on Dec 1st to say Triple Screen test results all normal - phew! Dec 8th was definitely the hightlight of our pregnancy so far when we got to see the Bean for the first time as a little human being at the 18 week ultrasound. We asked to know the sex and were told in the first few minutes that we were having a boy - very exciting! Very active little guy - I have a feeling he will be kicking me lots later on. Had my company staff party at the Empress that night and announced to everyone that we were having a boy while flashing around the ultrasound pics. Started to feel belly flutters but had first real kick while lying in the bath on Dec 20th. Got quite a fright - was all relaxed and literally sat bolt upright when he booted me. Was a nice early Christmas present. Spent Christmas with Ian's family up in Courtenay as my family just left for their Caribbean sailing adventure a couple of weeks ago. Stayed in a villa at the golf resort Crown Isle - bit of a romantic getaway for our last Christmas just being the two of us. Celebrated the New Year with friends at the Irish Times - had my first non-alcoholic beer - not bad! Beats the non-alcoholic wine.
